Tropical energy with caos and beauty. The broken mirror symbolize a lost piece of reality.
Thiago Furtado is originally from Florianópolis, an brazilian island. He’s known in the urban art scene as Valdi-Valdi, and has been doing graffiti since 2006.
His fascination for coast culture and the custumes of the Portuguese and the Spanish matched perfectly with the graffiti urban culture, wich is also rich in content. It was through his street works that his art aquired self expression and an identity.
The ocean is his main source of inspiration, and the sensual feminine figure in his works expresses the beauty and admiration that the artist has for the uncontrallable forces of the ocean. We can see how the color blue has an important part of the artist's feelings. As Valdi say himself: "A color that is infinit as the sky and deep as the sea. The hottest part of fire is blue, as the coldest part of ice. Blue is something beyond imagination, the color king"
Vigorous fluid lines set the visual style of these subjects; wich always interact in various different urban environments.
This fusion of influences resulted in expressive and authentic works. With spraying techniques derived from graffiti and street art, the artist creates works in great proportions and with an incredible technical and aesthetic detail.
With his realistic portrait street art Valdi has reach, with no doubt, a higher level of urban art. His work has been admired and showed at important places, as: New york, Barcelona, Milano, Mumbai, New Jersey, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and other cities. And as we can see, it's just the beginning.
